OOPS.   I choose a career that was not suited to my interests and personality! Has that happened to you? You choose a career for the money, because someone suggested it or because some family member was in that field. I choose a career that was suggested by a family friend and to be honest it actually fit into the limited goals that I had for myself when I was in high school. Unfortunately, I did not have the advantage of having a coach or mentor to help me fully explore my interests and examine how I could translate my interests in personal growth and self development into a rewarding career.

After 26 years, in a career that paid well and allowed me the freedom to work part-time while raising our daughter, I connected with a coach who did help me discover how I could translate my interests and talents into a rewarding career.  Coaching has turned out to be the perfect career match for how I want to spend the next 20 or 30 years.

Whatever reason brings you to explore coaching at this time, know that there are choices and options for you. You can change your life, your job, your relationships or anything else that is not totally to your liking.

Do you have the relationship of your dreams? Unfortunately not everyone does.

I recently worked with a client who wanted to attract the perfect mate. Using the Eight Keys to Success, we worked to create a list of what she wanted in a relationship. We discussed his appearance, his characteristics, what she wanted from him in the relationship and we also discussed what she would bring to the relationship. We then began to explore the options she had to put herself in situations where she could meet someone that would be a good fit. I joked with her that her perfect mate was not going to just show up at the door and at some point she would have to get out there and start looking around unless of course she was planning on marrying the "pizza delivery boy" or the "lawn care guy".

You probably won’t believe this, but she called me one day and said "he showed up at my door!". It is too early to know if this relationship will become permanent, but so far so good and I will update you if it does become permanent.

Update

This client has moved on to an even better relationship! She stayed clear about her desires and expectations for the perfect partner and she was able to let go of relationships that weren't a match and now has found someone she resonates with on all levels.

Ready to change jobs or careers?

Another client I worked with had a goal to change jobs. Again, using the Eight Keys to Success, we created a list of her perfect job requirements and designed a timeline to make that happen. She called me frantic one day and said that her job had been eliminated! After the initial shock, we discussed how this could turn out to be the best thing that happened to her not the worst.

Really...How bad can it be to lose a job you hate? You don’t have to feel guilty leaving, you don’t have to explain the reasons why you hate the job or why you are leaving. We just had to speed up the timeline and start exploring options sooner than we had expected. We talked about what she needed to do and who she needed to contact and she set out to take the action steps necessary to find a new job that fit her list of requirements. Within 6 weeks she manifested 3 great opportunities, which of course, set up another problem... deciding which job to take? We discussed the advantages and disadvantages of each opportunity and she settled on one with less money, but more opportunities for travel and job security. So far she loves it and is very happy with her choice.

Update

This client has moved on to an even more perfect job situation! She has continued to redefine the perfect job and has now manifested a job making 6 figures that matches the lifestyle she wants to live.
