Stop Comparing Yourself To Others |
Stop Comparing Yourself To Others
Do you find yourself comparing yourself to others on a regular basis? Do you notice who has a better house, better job, better relationship or a better car?
How does it make you feel to notice what others have? Do you find yourself inspired to have what they have or do you find yourself feeling frustrated and angry that others
appear to have it better than you?
If you feel inspired by observing what others have achieved, that’s great, but if you are comparing yourself to others and feeling bad, it’s time to stop and take inventory of what you have in your life that others would love to have.
You should also stop and consider that there will always be someone who has a house that is bigger, a job that pays more than yours, a relationship that seems more ideal than yours and people who are driving nicer cars. Having these things in their lives doesn’t necessarily mean they are happier, healthier and appreciating what they have.
Think about a time when you bought a brand new car, got what seemed to be the ideal job or started a new relationship with someone. How long did the fun and excitement last? Not long usually.
I have wanted to go to Alaska for a long time and I have finally accomplished that desire. As great as the adventure was, it won’t be long before it is just a memory and I will be on to manifesting another trip on my list. I’m sure over the next few weeks I will encounter some people who will feel frustrated or envious because I have experienced something that they would like to experience.
It is time to stop comparing yourself to others and start acknowledging what you have and what you are good at now. You also want to create a list of things that you want to be, do or have that you see others enjoying.
I saw a T-shirt in Alaska that said “The Journey is the Destination” not “I’ll be happy when....I get that new car, job or relationship.”
Where you are and what you have accomplished and acquired so far is just fine. There will never come a time when you will feel totally and complete satisfied with what you have. The world is set up so we will always have a desire for something more, something different or something better. That’s how the world and each individual evolves and changes. We would still be living in caves if we didn’t have continuous, changing
desires. Just be sure that your desires come from inside yourself, not
from comparing yourself to others.
Action Challenge
Pay attention this week to how often you compare your life to someone else’s.
Notice how those comparisons makes you feel.
Take a look at your life and acknowledge what you have accomplished and acquired that others would love to have.
If you’ve been reading this newsletter for a while, you should already have a list of things you want to be, do or have, so get it out and review it and make changes and additions.
If you don’t have a list of things to be, do and have, this is the time to write them down. Just make sure they are things that YOU Really Really Want, not just things that everyone else has.
