This Year Shout Yes!

This Year Shout YES!

As you begin 2004, possibly with high expectations for things to change or be different, I have a couple of questions for you to ponder.

Do you know more about what you don’t want in your life than what you do want?

Do you spend more of your time shouting NO, I don’t want that?

Frequently when I am talking with clients and perspective clients, they say that they don’t know what they want. They know they want something to change or to be different, but they can’t easily identify or articulate what they want instead.

They cannot picture their lives different or are afraid to even imagine it because they don't want to be disappointed.

We are so programmed to push against what we don’t want that we have lost or given up the ability to daydream and to get excited about what we do want. How often as children did we hear “stop daydreaming”? How often as adults do we have conversations about
what we want? Aren’t most conversations complaining sessions about what we don’t want in our lives?

In order to get clearer about what you do want and to have some fun at the same time make this the year you start looking for things to shout YES to.

Action Challenge

1. Start with your list of don’t wants and flip them around to articulate what you do want. Use your imagination to see and feel what it would be like to have what you do want.

Examples:
Change...No, I don’t want to be fat.
To...Yes, I want to look great and feel great.
Then...Imagine it. How would you look? How would you feel?

Change...No, I hate my job.
To...Yes, I am ready to find work I love.
Then...Imagine it. What would you be doing? How would you be feeling with work you love?

2. Start carrying a small notebook everywhere you go. This is going to be your YES notebook. Every time you see something you would like to be, do or have, write it down.

Spend the day looking for things you would like to include in your life. When you see something you want, shout YES and write it down.

See a car you want... write it down. Notice a trait in someone that you would like to have...write it down. See a place you would like to visit...write it down.

You can have different pages for the different aspects of your life such as career, relationships, learning, fun, etc. For help getting started, check out the first Key to Success, Goals.

3. Keep track of your YES manifestations and shout Yes to more.

From this day forward, have fun looking for things you want and shout

YES, I WANT THAT!
